Big money and lots of prizes possible at Bandon's 3rd annual “Golf for Health” Classic A Hole in One on #14 will win you $25,000. And, one lucky amateur will take the swing of a lifetime at a $1 Million Shot. These contests and more are part of the fun planned for the second annual Bandon “Golf for Health” Classic tournament benefiting Southern Coos Health Foundation. It’s a four-player Scramble set for Saturday, July 24, at Bandon Crossings Golf Course, just south of Bandon. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the driving range will be open. A challenging Putting Contest and a Continental breakfast will start shortly thereafter. The shotgun start Scramble will begin at 11:30 a.m. The tournament will be followed by an Awards BBQ, and then one lucky player will take a shot to win $1 Million, paid at $25,000 per year in a 40-year annuity. A festive post-tournament Awards BBQ is planned, and Tournament Chair John Ohanesian encourages you to bring your Best Golf Jokes. Prizes will be awarded for both men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to pin, in addition to the winning teams. Additional prizes and gifts will be raffled during the awards ceremony. The individual entry fee of $100 includes breakfast, greens fee, cart and the BBQ. A Preferred Team entry of $500 includes all of the above for four players, plus four tickets to the Sponsors’ Thank You Party (see below) the evening before the tournament, and allows you the privilege of naming rights for your team. Let your imagination run wild! Players may register at bandongolfclassic.org or by calling Southern Coos Health Foundation at 541 329-1040. A few sponsorship slots are still available as well. “We want to see all you golfers – the good, the not-so-good, hackers, duffs and everyone in between – out on the course July 24,” Ohanesian said. “We’re going to have a lot of fun on a fabulous golf course and raise some money for a really good cause, improving access to quality healthcare in our community.” Tournament sponsors are helping to assure the financial success of this benefit tournament, which will expand the capacity of Southern Coos Health Foundation to support healthcare services in Bandon.
